20th June 2024

Imagine a place where hospitality meets sustainability, where every detail is designed with environmental stewardship in mind. Welcome to Long Beach, a resort that is not just a luxury destination, but a visionary pioneer in sustainable hospitality. Our commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative initiatives has set us apart in the industry. Read on to discover the facts and figures that make Long Beach a true haven of sustainable hospitality.

Pioneering Sustainable Construction: The Story of Repurposing Waste

Our journey began with a challenge - how to construct a luxury resort while minimizing our environmental footprint. The answer lay in the 20,000m3 of construction waste rubble. Long Beach proudly stands as the first hotel to utilize this waste in its development. By repurposing these materials, we have reduced landfill waste and demonstrated our commitment to sustainable construction practices. This achievement reflects our dedication to minimizing environmental impact from the very foundation of our resort.

Nurturing Biodiversity: Our Buzzing Inhabitants and Marine Protectors

As you stroll through the resort, you’ll hear a gentle buzz. Look closer, and you’ll find over 550,000 bees, our tiny allies in preserving the local flora and fauna. At Long Beach, we cherish our natural surroundings and are proud to house these buzzing inhabitants. Moreover, our commitment to marine conservation is exemplified by the presence of two full-time marine scientists. Through their research and conservation efforts, we strive to protect and restore the delicate marine ecosystems that surround our resort.

Educating for a Better Future: Engaging Our Guests

At Long Beach, every guest becomes part of our sustainability story. We’ve had the privilege of engaging and educating more than 3,500 visitors about sustainable practices and the importance of environmental conservation. Long Beach goes beyond providing exceptional hospitality; we aim to educate and inspire our guests.

Green Landscaping: A Walk Through Our Green Haven

Take a walk through our 60 hectares of land, and you’ll be greeted by over 510,000 plants, including 26 endemic species. Each one has a story to tell, a role to play in our ecosystem. Our commitment extends to the vastness of our resort, which is adorned with 21,000m2 of grass. Furthermore, our on-site nursery boasts a diverse collection of more than 3,500 plants, contributing to the preservation of local flora and biodiversity.

Water and Waste Management: Innovating for Sustainability

Behind the scenes, we’re constantly innovating to minimize our environmental impact. Every drop of water is precious, every piece of waste an opportunity. Long Beach has implemented innovative technologies to minimize water consumption and manage waste effectively. We achieve 100% irrigation using recycled grey water, reducing the strain on freshwater resources. Our in-house water treatment plant ensures that water is treated and recycled efficiently, further minimizing our impact on the environment. Additionally, our waste management system utilizes innovative techniques and technologies to ensure proper sorting, recycling, and disposal of waste, allowing us to minimize landfill contributions and promote a circular economy.

Handprint Logic: Changing Attitudes and Building Relationships

Our sustainability journey goes beyond environmental conservation. It’s about changing attitudes, fostering kindness, and building stronger relationships. Long Beach’s sustainability efforts are guided by our unique Handprint Logic approach. We strive to change attitudes, foster kindness, and build stronger relationships between all stakeholders. We believe that tourism activities can create positive social impacts, and we actively collaborate with local communities, empowering them and ensuring that our presence benefits all.
